New Education Policy 2020: HRD Ministry


Indian Education policy has been changed after 34 years. HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said that this policy will pave an important path. This will prove to be a milestone in the construction of new India. Opinions on this policy have been taken from every corner of the country and the opinions of all sections of people have been included in it. For the first time in the history of the country, it has happened that everyone's opinion has been taken on such a large level.

  •  Under the new education policy, now students up to 5th will be taught in mother tongue, local language and national language only.

  • Examination will be done in the semester from 9th to 12th class. Schooling will be taught under the 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 formula

  • At the same time, college degree will be 3 and 4 years old. That is, certificate will be given on first year of graduation, diploma on second year, degree in third year.

  • The 3-year degree is for those students who do not have to take higher education. At the same time, students doing higher education will have to do a 4-year degree. Students doing 4 years degree will be able to do MA in one year.

  • Now students will not have to do MPhil. Rather MA students will now be able to do PHD directly.

  • Students will be able to do other courses in between

By 2035 the gross enrollment ratio will be 50 percent in higher education. At the same time, under the new education policy, if a student wants to do another course in the middle of a course, then he can take a second course by taking a break from the first course for a limited time.

Many improvements have also been made in higher education. Improvements include graded academic, administrative and financial autonomy. Apart from this, e-courses will be started in regional languages. Virtual labs will be developed. A National Educational Scientific Forum (NETF) will be started. Please tell that there are 45 thousand colleges in the country.

Same rules will be there for all government, private, deemed institutions
Higher education secretary Amit Khare said, 'Technology and online education have been emphasized in the new reforms. Right now we have different rules for deemed universities, central universities and standalone institutions. The rules will be the same for all under the new education policy.

HRD Minister: Dr. Ramesh Pokharila Nishank wishes


HRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokharila Nishank said that I not only hope but have full confidence that India will regain its glory through the new Education Policy 2020. NEP2020 is created under a group process based on quality, access, accountability, affordability and equality. While attention has been paid to the skill development of the students, the curriculum has been made flexible so that they can successfully compete with the international competition.


HRD Minister Ramesh Pokharila said that I believe that through the new Education Policy 2020, we will be able to deliver quality, innovative, technology-intensive and India-centric education to India. Today, the Cabinet has approved the new Education Policy 2020 to take the educational scenario of India to a new height under the leadership of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for which I am grateful to the Hon'ble Prime Minister.

HECI - General Regulatory Body for Complete Higher Education


The Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will be set up as a single overlapping umbrella body for all higher education except medical and legal education. The HECI has four independent verticals - the National Higher Education Regulatory Council (NHERC) for regulation, the General Education Council (GEC) for standard setting, the Higher Education Grants Council for funding (HEGC), and the National Accreditation Council for Accreditation. (NAC).

NEP2020: Various new provisions for children with disabilities


Able to fully participate in the regular schooling process from foundation stage to higher education, with the support of teachers in line with cross disability training, resource centers, housing, assistive devices, appropriate technology-based tools and other support mechanisms. Will be built. To suit their needs. Each state / district will be encouraged to establish "Bal Bhavan" as a special boarding school to participate in arts-related, career-related and sports-related activities. Free school infrastructure can be used as social consciousness centers.


NEP2020: 6% of GDP to education sector, previously it was 3.7%

NEP2020: Medium of instruction will be in local / regional language


Wherever possible, the medium of instruction will be at least up to grade 5 but preferably grade 8 and beyond, home language / mother tongue / vernacular / regional language. Three-language states, regions and students learned by children will be the choice.



NEP2020: Streams for students


The subjects will be scaled right for students to study, especially in secondary school - including subjects of physical education, arts and crafts, and vocational skills.
In addition to science, humanities and mathematics, subjects such as physical education, arts and crafts and vocational skills will be included throughout the school curriculum. Each of the four phases of schooling may consider moving towards a semester or another system that may allow the inclusion of smaller modules.


The importance of board examination is less, examination can be conducted twice a year


To reduce the importance and stress of board examination, the examination will be conducted in two parts: objective and descriptive. The examination can be conducted twice a year. Knowledge application should be promoted rather than rhetorical learning in board exams.



New policy approved for 21st century after 34 years


Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the cabinet has approved a new education policy for the 21st century under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is important, as there was no change in education policy for 34 years.

New Circulars and Structures: The new education policy proposes a new circular and educational structure, with a 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 design, covering children aged 3-18 years.

Under this (I) five-year foundational stage: 3-year pre-primary school and grades 1, 2;

(II) Three-Year Preparation (or Letter Primary) Stage: Grades 3, 4, 5;

(III) Three years of middle (or upper primary) stage: grades 6, 7, 8 and

(IV) Four-year higher (or secondary) stage: grades 9, 10, 11, 12.

When New Education Policy 2020 come into force

It is likely that New Education Policy can be started from 2022-23 session or onwards. Education ministry (earlier HRD MINISTRY) said that all arrangements and training process of teachers and publishing new syllabus book will take time and most probably it will occur in 2022, if done at fast pace.
